Since his early years, Dr. Amorim has been an enthusiastic proponent for a more natural approach to health and life. Following his medical training, Dr. Amorim expanded his knowledge and practice into complementary areas, such as Naturopathy, Orthomolecular Nutrition, Phytotherapy, Thermography, Ozone Therapy, Dark Field Microscopy, Microphysiotherapy, among others.

In addition to his medical credentials, Dr. Amorim is also a certified Yoga practitioner and teacher, seeking (whenever possible) to incorporate yoga’s more subtle dimension into his personal and professional life.

In his practice, he approaches patients in a holistic and integrative way; assessing each as a whole and trying to focus the treatment on the root cause of the problem, not just the control of symptoms.

He is currently the director of the Naturena Integrative Clinic, a health and wellness space in Barcelos, where, in addition to Integrative Medicine consultations, he conducts lectures, workshops, retreats and other programs in the scope of Natural Health and Personal Development.

He recently released his book “The Transforming Power of Fasting”, the culmination of extensive research as well as his personal and clinical experience with fasting. This book stands out for its comprehensive approach to health - promoting Therapeutic Fasting as an ancient, natural, and scientific healing method that is easily accessible to all.

“The human being is not just a set of isolated organs, and as such, a complete medical approach must consider each individual as a whole. This is the purpose of a holistic view of health, which assesses not only the physical body, but also the mental, emotional, social and spiritual attributes of each person - as they are determining factors for the well-being of each person.

Furthermore, as we know, the so-called conventional medicine (allopathic) does not offer satisfactory solutions to most current health problems. In addition to being generally toxic, conventional treatments do not really solve the problem, leaving the patient unhappy and in a chronic state of health that diminishes his vitality and pleasure in life.

In the same way that no two people are alike, the treatment for each problem must also be unique and adapted to each situation! For this reason, the true therapist cannot be restricted to just one technique or line of knowledge - he must know and master alternative therapeutic modalities and complementary knowledge in order to be able to offer the best solution adapted to each person and situation.

This is the objective of Integrative and Holistic Medicine consultations, where the best treatment is not always the best known or the most used, but the one that really works!”

The 7 Principles of Integrative and Holistic Medicine (according to Dr. André)

1- The integrative physician must have an educational focus when meeting with patients. One that educates, empowers and enables them to be increasingly autonomous in their health care.

2- The integrative physician may use conventional or alternative methods to help the patient, but with a preference for a more natural approach, when possible, to minimize the need for toxic and invasive interventions.

3- The integrative physician must consider all factors that influence client health (food and lifestyle, etc.) as well as all dimensions of their lives (body, mind, emotions, social and spiritual well-being).

4- The integrative physician must be a living example of good health practices and be committed to personal self-development.

5- The integrative physician dmust recognize that the power of healing and regeneration is a transversal characteristic shared by all living beings to help re-establish balance.

6- The integrative physician doctor must have at his disposal, various resources including other specialists for a multidisciplinary approach to properly identify and correct the source of any problem.

7- The integrative physician must have great skill and pay close attention to detail for the early detection of imbalances that could lead to diseases.
